We support affluent families during life's hardest moments.
We provide practical support for individual family members during loss, serious illness, major life transitions, and other periods of complexity — so they can focus on taking care of themselves and know nothing important will be missed.
LAUNCHING FALL 2026
We are currently preparing to begin work with a small number of families.
If you would like to explore whether this may be a fit, we would welcome an early conversation.
THE CHALLENGE
Managing complexity and care.
The demands of household administration, healthcare, financial management, and legal coordination accumulate quickly, especially in the fog of grief and upset. Important tasks fall through cracks. Advisors and service providers work in silos. Loved ones struggle.
Adult children, often living elsewhere or juggling demanding lives, cannot always do enough or fully see how their parent is doing day to day at home.
We spend time on the ground, so someone is there to see what's happening. We make sure things are in the best order possible, so families can focus on what matters most.
THE ROLE
The “Second Chair”.
In an orchestra, the Second Chair supports the lead player by listening closely, reinforcing the performance, and stepping forward when needed.
In law, the Second Chair is the counsel who makes sure nothing is missed. The Second Chair prepares, organizes, and quietly keeps the work on track while the lead lawyer is out front.
We play the same supportive role for a family member navigating difficult times. Their Second Chair is the person who advocates for them and keeps things moving, calmly and with discretion, while respecting their independence.
Our Second Chairs are professionals with decades of experience supporting families and navigating complexity.
OUR PLACE

IN THEIR WORDS
Judgement, trust, and follow through.
Second Chair Partners is a new company. Here’s what people have said about the Founder’s work with families over the years:
“
I've worked closely with Terry for over a decade. We've made terrific progress together over this time. He brings wisdom, clarity, and calm when it's needed most. He sees the big picture while making sure nothing important falls through the cracks. He has a way of quietly organizing what needs to happen and keeping things moving without adding pressure. Over time, he's earned the trust of our whole family and has taken the time to connect with them, which has made a real difference.

Terry and I have worked together since 2017, when he became my client advisor at Prime Quadrant. I came to trust his judgment early on as he is thoughtful, practical, and steady. His advice has always been focused squarely on what's in my best interest. He takes the time to understand context and helps you see things clearly so decisions can be made and executed with confidence. It's rare to find someone who combines that level of capability with genuine care for the people involved.

“
We’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Terry for nearly ten years, and over that time he has become far more than an advisor - he has been a trusted partner. Terry brings a thoughtful balance of strategic perspective and practical insight, helping us navigate important investment decisions with clarity and confidence. As a couple with different styles and approaches, we have especially valued his calm manner, flexibility and ability to guide open, honest conversations in a constructive and respectful way. Over the years, what began as a professional relationship has evolved into one built on deep trust, mutual respect and genuine friendship. We continue to value Terry’s wisdom, integrity and steady guidance.

I've worked closely with Terry for over a decade across complex, sensitive, and evolving client situations. What distinguishes him is how consistently he shows up in moments that are difficult or uncertain: thoughtful, measured, and reliable, with a clear focus on what is best for the client and on ensuring nothing important is missed. He navigates complexity with patience and humanity, bringing clarity without oversimplifying, and staying engaged to ensure things move forward. In situations where others might rush, Terry takes the time to understand context. Families come to trust him not because of any single moment, but because of how consistently he shows up over time.
